Much too bland. Garlic powder does the trick. Also, I don't do exact measurements. I slice off a chunk of rolled sausage and fry till just cooked through. I do not remove it from pan--just add some butter then flour until it's a paste. Cook for at least one minute then gradually add in your milk to the consistency you prefer for your gravy. Season to taste with salt, pepper and garlic powder. This is my one-Sunday-a-month breakfast treat.
Best sausage gravy recipe I have found! Super easy & very tasty!!
I have to give this a 5. There is another gravy recipe on this site I actually like better but it doesn't have sausages included with it. This was good. I served it over Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls.
My family loved this! I used regular sausage instead of the maple flavored, but other than that followed the recipe exactly and it was a big hit! Oh yeah, I used half 1% milk and half canned milk. Didn't make a difference at all in the consistency! In fact, I needed to add a tad more milk just before serving because it really thickened up nicely! Thanks for a real, honest-to-goodness comfort food recipe! We will totally make this again!
This was fantastic! I doubled the recipe since I was making it for a breakfast potluck at work. I added some onion powder to the sausage, along with pepper and salt. I wasn't planning on adding butter, but the sausage didn't render much fat, so I added about 5 tbsp. for the double batch. Everyone at work loved it (it was the favorite dish). Plenty of black pepper is a must, I think, but I like pepper. Thanks, Bill!
This is great for a wintery Sunday morning, and it's approaching quickly here! I use Atkins low carb milk. 4 carbs and only 90 calories. Takes the guilt out and does not harm the wholesomeness of the recipe. I like the sausage w/bacon. You have got to serve this over the "Miss Betty's Super Quick Dinner Rolls" from this site. They are not rolls but biscuits. They are hearty and don't have the baking powder aftertaste. The gravy doesn't sog them up. Amazing. Just bake the biscuits for about 20 minutes or so.( don't be fooled, they don't get over brown when done)and they are ready when the gravy is done. I just love this. Never had it before till I tried this recipe a few weeks ago. Excellent recipe!
