Mashed Potatoes with Horseradish Recipe
This is a great way to spice up plain old mashed potatoes! This recipe brings butter, sour cream, horseradish and parsley together with potatoes for a delicious side dish.
Caramelized onions give this incredible side dish a subtle sweetness, and the addition of horseradish gives it a little attitude! They make an absolutely fabulous side dish to prime rib, and have become a tradition every year at family holiday gatherings! To save time, the caramelized onions can be made ahead of time and refrigerated, then warmed before adding to the potatoes.
Added twice as much horseradish, some fat free cream cheese and plain greek yogurt in place of the sour cream. Added chives instead of parsley which really made a big difference! these were great with all of my substitutions, lol!
New potatoes are baked in a savory sauce of butter, horseradish and lemon juice. Spoon the sauce over the potatoes when serving, and garnish with fresh parsley and lemon wedges, if desired.
Mashed sweet potato or yams are whipped with a kick of horseradish and honey. These are excellent with pork, beef or poultry.
I am NOT a fan of horseradish, but I had some horseradish potatoes at a Christmas function last year, and decided to find the recipe. This is awesome! Even if you don't particularly care for horseradish, this gives them a little extra zing!
LOVED THIS RECIPE!! I saw some other posts that said they weren't flavorful enough. I have to wonder what brand of horseradish they are using. I used a German brand and the flavor was just right! I made this as specified except I did add a little cream to the finished product as I like a little creamier consistency.
Horseradish and plenty of green onions give these tasty taters an exciting flavor that will grab the attention of even the most seasoned mashed potato eaters!
